This Short Guide Simply Shows How to Install the Latest Thunderbird 60 64-bit for Linux CentOS 6.3-6.4 Gnome x8664 Desktop.

The Same Procedure with only some Little changes will Work also on Other CentOS Releases.

Thunderbird on RedHat
  1. Download Thunderbird 60 64bit

    Thunderbird 60 x8664 tar.bz2
  2. Double-Click on Archive and Extract it Into the /tmp Directory.

  3. Open Terminal Window
    (Press “Enter” to Execute Commands)
    Linux CentOS 6 KDE Open Terminal
  4. Relocate Thunderbird:
    • Login as the SuperUser
      su 

      If Got “User is Not in Sudoers file” then Look: Solution

    • Relocate Thunderbird
      chown -R root:root /tmp/thunderbird && mv /tmp/thunderbird /opt/

      Eventually Make a SymLink

      ln -fs /opt/thunderbird/thunderbird /usr/bin/thunderbird
  5. To Start Thunderbird from Terminal
    thunderbird
  6. Create a Thunderbird Launcher:
