How to Install Thunderbird Latest on OpenSuse
  1. Download Thunderbird 68 32bit

    Thunderbird 68 i686 tar.bz2
  2. Double-Click on Archive and Extract it Into the /tmp Directory.

  3. Open Terminal Window
    (Press “Enter” to Execute Commands)

  4. Relocate Thunderbird:

    • Login as the SuperUser

      su 

      If Got “User is Not in Sudoers file” then see: How to Enable sudo

    • Move Thunderbird to Location

      sudo chown -R root:root /tmp/thunderbird && mv /tmp/thunderbird /opt/

      Eventually Make a SymLink

      ln -fs /opt/thunderbird/thunderbird /usr/bin/thunderbird
  5. To Start Thunderbird from Terminal

    thunderbird
