How to Install Latest Thunderbird 60+ x86_64 on Slackware 14 KDE4 64-bit Easy Visual-Guide

This Short Guide Simply Shows How to Install the Latest Thunderbird 68 64-bit for Linux Slackware 14 KDE4 x8664 Desktop.

The Same Procedure with only some Little changes will Work also on Other Slackware Releases.

The Post Include the Basic ScreenShots to Make Easier the Whole Visualization Steps Involved.

Thunderbird on Slackware
  1. Download Latest Thunderbird for Linux:

    Thunderbird 68 x8664 tar.bz2
  2. Double-Click on Archive and Extract it Into the /tmp Directory.

  3. Open Terminal Window
    (Press “Enter” to Execute Commands)

    Linux KDE4 12 Open Terminal
  4. Relocate Thunderbird:

    • Login as the SuperUser


      If Got “User is Not in Sudoers file” then see: How to Enable sudo

    • Relocate Thunderbird

      sudo chown -R root:root /tmp/thunderbird && mv /tmp/thunderbird /opt/

      Make a SymLink.

      ln -fs /opt/thunderbird/thunderbird /usr/bin/thunderbird

    Then to Start Thunderbird from Terminal.

  5. Create a Launcher for Thunderbird Easy-Starting:
