If you Prefer there is the Possibility to Install the Eclipse 2023-03 R IDE Platform on Gentoo Based Distros also with the java-overlay Procedure but I Find that’s Simpler and Clearer Provide Directly to Download and Installation of the Eclipse JEE Release for Linux.

Sabayon Eclipse

  1. Download Latest Eclipse 2023-03 R x8664 for JEE:

  • Double-Clik on Archive and Extract Eclipse into /tmp
    Gnome Install Eclipse JEE Extraction

  • Open Terminal Window
    (Press “Enter” to Execute Commands)

    Linux GNOME3 Open Terminal

  • Relocating Eclipse.

    sudo chown -R root:root /tmp/eclipse && mv /tmp/eclipse /opt/

  • Starting Eclipse from Terminal.

    Making a Symlink

    ln -s /opt/eclipse/eclipse /usr/local/bin/eclipse

    After you can Start Eclipse JEE from Terminal simply with:

    eclipse
