This Short Guide Simply Shows How-to Install the Latest Thunderbird 52 x8664 Version for Debian Linux 6 Squeeze Gnome2 Amd64 Linux Desktop.

The Same Procedure with only some Little changes will Work also on Debian 5 Lenny and 7 Wheezy.

The Guide Include the Basic Screenshots of Process to Make the Visualization Easier.

Thunderbird on Debian
  1. Download Latest Thunderbird for Linux

    Thunderbird 52 x8664 tar.bz2
  2. Double-Click on Archive and Extract Into /tmpLinux Gnome2 Desktop Extract Thuderbird
  3. Open a Terminal Window
    (Press “Enter” to Execute Commands)
    Debian Linux Squeeze Gnome Open Terminal
  4. Relocate Thunderbird:
    • Login as the SuperUser
      su 

      If Got “User is Not in Sudoers file” then Look: Solution

    • Move Thunderbird to Location
      chown -R root:root /tmp/thunderbird && mv /tmp/thunderbird /opt/

      Eventually Make a SymLink

      ln -fs /opt/thunderbird/thunderbird /usr/bin/thunderbird
    • After to Start Thunderbird from Console
      thunderbird
