Java On Sabayon
  1. Download Oracle-Sun Java SE JDK 7:

    Sun JDK 7 i586.tar.gz
  2. Double-Click on the tar.gz Archive Java JDK 7 tar.gz Extraction 1

    Extract it Into the /tmp Folder.

  3. Open a Terminal Window
    (Press “Enter” to Execute Commands)

    Mageia Linux 2 GNOME 3 Open Terminal
  4. Relocate JDK 7

    su 

    If Got “User is Not in Sudoers file” then see: How to Enable sudo

    sudo chown -R root:root /tmp/jdk1.7*

    Then to shift the Oracle JDK 7 contents

    mv /tmp/jdk1.7* /opt
  5. Make a New Java JDK 7 Config File

    nano /usr/share/java-config-2/vm/oracle-sun-jdk7u

    Substitute to the X the Concord Java Update Version.

    Insert something like Here Below and Just Substituting the JDK Paths and Version Only in the First, Three lines.

    Ctrl+x to Save and Exit

  6. Updating the System to Custom Oracle Sun JDK 7

    Make a Symlink.

    ln -s /opt/jdk1.7.0_0X//usr/lib/jvm/oracle-sun-jdk7uX

    Find the New JDK 7 Installation.

    java-config -L

    Switch System Java to the New Manually Installed JDK 7.

    java-config --set-system-vm oracle-sun-jdk7uX

    Test JDK 7 Installation.

    java -version
