Step-by-step – Abcde CentOS 8.x/Stream-8 Installation

Installing

  1. 2. Downloading Abcde for CentOS

    Download Abcde for CentOS GNU/Linux

    Get Abcde tar.gz for CentOS

    If possible Select directly “Open with Archive Manager”!

  2. 3. Extracting Abcde Archive

    Then Extract Abcde tar.gz into /tmp Directory
    If it does Not Open automatically then Double-Click on File Manager:

    Extracting
    Or from Command Line:

    tar xvzf ~/Downloads/abcde*.tar.gz -C /tmp/
  3. 4. Installing Abcde

    Here is described a System-Wide Setup, but you can simply Run it without Setup…
    So First, Set the SuperUser as Owner with

    sudo chown -R root:root /tmp/abcde*

    Then to Set up Switch to a Directory into System:

    sudo mv /tmp/abcde* /opt/abcde

    Finally, Make a Symlink to Easy Launching from Shell:

    sudo ln -s /opt/abcde/abcde /usr/local/bin/abcde
