Step by step – ICQ Slackware Gnu/Linux Installation

Installing

  1. 2. Downloading

    Download ICQ Messenger for Slackware Linux

    ICQ Linux tar.xz

    If possible Select directly “Open with Archive Manager”!

  2. 3. Extracting

    Then Extract into /tmp Directory
    Possibly Double-Click/Right-Click and Open with Archive Manager:

    Or from Command Line:

    tar xvzf ~/Downloads/icq*.tar.xz -C /tmp/

  3. 4. Installing

    Next to Install ICQ App on Slackware Linux
    (For a Local Setup without sudo Permission then simply put it into your Home and Skip Permissions Fixing.)
    So for a System-Wide Installation Execute:

    sudo mv /tmp/icq* /opt/icq

    And then to Fix Permissions with:

    sudo chown -R root:root /opt/icq

    Again to Make a Simlink for Easy Launching do:

    sudo ln -s /opt/icq/ICQ /usr/local/bin/icq
