Then to Update System in Ubuntu
For the Current Release:sudo apt upgrade
And in case of a suited Kernel Upgrade is Not achieved then you can see: How to Upgrade Kernel on Ubuntu
When to Setup the Next one:sudo do-release-upgrade
Especially relevant: in case of failure you should dispose of a working Backup!
For a Non-LTS you should first edit the Config:sudo nano /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades
And Change “Prompt=lts” in “Prompt=normal”.
Finally, Ctrl+x to Save & Exit from nano Editor.
To know that sometimes the Release Upgrade may presents some possible Compatibility Issues.
So for a Safe Result you should instead proceed to a Fresh Re-Installation.
Last, in case of Kernel Update, to Load the New Setup Reboot with:sudo reboot
