How to Install
-
4. Installing Waydroid
Now to Install Waydroid from SlackDCE play:
sudo slackpkg install waydroid
This will download and install Waydroid and all needed dependencies from the SlackDCE repo.
-
5. Loading Kernel Modules
Waydroid requires binder and ashmem kernel modules for Android container support:
sudo modprobe binder_linux; sudo modprobe ashmem_linux
If modules are missing, ensure your kernel includes binderfs support or use a SlackDCE kernel build with Android drivers.
-
6. Initializing Waydroid
Then initialize the Android environment:
sudo waydroid init
This command downloads and sets up the Android system image.
-
7. Starting Waydroid
Start the Waydroid container and GUI session with:
sudo systemctl start waydroid-container; waydroid session start
Then show the Android desktop UI:
waydroid show-full-ui
-
8. Stopping Waydroid
When finished, stop the container service:
sudo systemctl stop waydroid-container
Congratulations! You’ve successfully installed Waydroid on Slackware 15 via SlackDCE and can now run Android apps natively on your Linux desktop.
