3. Installing Waydroid
Now to Install Waydroid on Void Linux simply play:
sudo xbps-install -Sy waydroid
This will automatically fetch and install dependencies like
lxc,binderfs, andpython3. -
4. Loading Kernel Modules
Load the required binder and ashmem kernel modules:
sudo modprobe binder_linux; sudo modprobe ashmem_linux
If these modules are missing, ensure your kernel supports binderfs (for example,
linux5.10or newer). -
5. Initializing Waydroid Environment
Initialize the Waydroid Android system image:
sudo waydroid init
This command downloads and configures the base Android container image.

6. Starting Waydroid Service
Enable and start the Waydroid container service:
sudo sv up waydroid-container
To make it persistent at boot:
sudo ln -s /etc/sv/waydroid-container /var/service/

7. Launching Waydroid UI
Finally, to launch the Android interface run:
waydroid show-full-ui
You’ll now have the Android desktop running natively inside Void Linux.

8. Stopping Waydroid
When finished, stop the container service:
sudo sv down waydroid-container
Great! You’ve successfully installed and launched Waydroid on Void Linux directly from the official repository and can now enjoy Android apps seamlessly integrated into your desktop.
