Tomcat 7 on Chakra Linux

  1. Download Apache Tomcat 7 Server.

    Apache Tomcat 7 tar.gz

  • Find the Downloaded Package and Double-Click to Extract it

  • Open Terminal Window
    (Press “Enter” to Execute Commands)

    Fedora Linux 16-17 Kde Open Terminal

  • Check if Java is Installed on your Platform 

    java -version

    The Output Need to Show a Version >= 1.6.

    If Java is Not Installed then:

    Install Java for Chakra Linux
    Installing Java JRE7 and JDK on Linux Chakra.

  • Relocate Tomcat 7

    Login as SuperUser.

    su 

    If Got “User is Not in Sudoers file” then see: How to Enable sudo

    Move.

    sudo chown -R root:root /tmp/apache-tomcat*
    mv /tmp/apache-tomcat-7* /usr/share

  • Command to Start and Stop the Tomcat Server

  • Then to Access Tomcat Admin on Browser Go.

    http://localhost:8080
